The Brothers Who Dared to Dream Big

Some called them crazy. Some called them geniuses. It's funny how the line between the two can be very thin. Regardless of what they were called, they believed in their dream and pushed on.

This is the story of the Wright brothers. The brothers to dared to fly and dream big. Although not the first to experiment with flying, they were the first to invent and effectively use the three-axis control. This allowed for a more efficient way of steering and maintaining an aircraft's equilibrium. It is a testament to the brothers' genius that this method is still in use today and is standard across all fixed-wing aircraft.

If someone told me in 1904 that they were planning on building a flying machine, I would call them crazy and tell them to look for a good doctor. Yet now in 2016, flying 36,000ft in the air is as normal going in for a checkup at the dentist. Aviation has indeed progressed a long way from the first plane. However, despite air travel being such a normalized occurrence, we are still amazed as to how it works and still get goosebumps every time the plane takes off and descends.

If we didn't have the Wright brothers, who didn't give up and kept on reaching for the sky, we wouldn't have a fast way of traveling the world and discovering all of the wonders it has to offer. Sending aid, letters, gifts, products and so much more would take 10x the amount of time. No in-flight movies, no cute miniature cans of drinks or those little toiletry bags!
